What is saffron?

Saffron is known in many households as a spice. However, Saffron is more than that, it is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory derived from the flower of Crocus sativus. It contains 3 bioactive compounds.

 Crocin - An antioxidant with free radical scavenging activity.

Safranal – Anxiolytic and antidepressant properties.

Picrocin – The precursor of Safranal and is often missed from lower cost saffron supplements.

Saffron pixie sticks are an alternative way to incorporate saffron into your day to day lives. Pixie sticks are straw packaging that contain powdered saffron. Our Saffrosun capsules can be twisted open and the powder mixed with food or drink in the same way.

What is the difference between Saffrosun Energy and Saffron Calm?

Saffrosun Energy contains Iodine instead of the Vitamin B12 that Saffrosun Calm contains. They both contain the same amount of Saffron extract and Vitamin D3.

What else does Saffrosun Energy contain?

Saffrosun Energy contains Saffron extract, Vitamin D3 and Iodine. Both the vitamin D3 and iodine are sourced from marine algae. These ingredients are encased in a natural tapioca shell. 

How does saffron help with menopause symptoms?

Saffron can improve menopausal symptoms by increasing the mood-boosting neurotransmitter serotonin in the gut. 

This mechanism can improve the following symptoms:

Will Saffrosun Energy help with sleep?

Saffron extract has been shown to be an effective supplement to help improve sleep quality and duration. Saffron helps to calm the mind allowing us to drift off into a deep sleep.

What's Different

Saffrosun Energy differs from Saffrosun Calm in one ingredient. As well as the all important saffron extract, the vitamin D3 and prebiotic, Saffrosun Energy contains iodine instead of vitamin B12.

The iodine is sourced from marine algae. It helps with efficient energy utilisation and metabolism and also supports optimum cognitive, thyroid and nervous system function.

95% of the clinical efficacy of Saffrosun relates to the three high strength saffron bioactives (crocin, saffranal & picrocrocin), the concentration of these are identical in the two formulations i.e. 3.5%, with the daily dose of 2 capsules providing 30mg of saffron extract. The Vitamin D3 and Baobab prebiotic contained within the tapioca capsule shell are also the same in both formulations.

As this formulation contains iodine it should not be used if taking iodine supplements and it is not suitable for those with an overactive thyroid gland. It is suitable for those with an underactive thyroid gland who may be receiving thyroxine therapy.

This formulation of Saffrosun contains naturally sourced marine algae, high in natural minerals and iodine. Iodine is an essential component in supporting efficient energy utilisation, cognitive and thyroid function and a healthy nervous system. This is sustainably harvested around the remote islands of the Scottish coast and then carefully dried and milled to ensure a high quality and nutrient rich algae.

Key Ingredients

Saffrosun is created using Spanish Saffron extract with added vitamins, minerals and prebiotic. Vitamin D3 and iodine are food-sourced from Scottish marine algae and organic Baobab from the Baobab tree. We pick saffron from Catalonia in Northern Spain, which produces the highest strength of saffron (3.5%) with the three bioactives we are looking for (crocin, saffranal and picrocrocin). Catalonia enjoys the ideal temperatures and soil conditions to grow the most potent saffron in the world.

How to use

ADULTS and CHILDREN 14+yrs: Take TWO capsules daily, with breakfast.

All of our capsules can be twisted open and the contents mixed with food or drink, such as a yogurt or smoothie, to consume if required.

Caution: we don't advise the use of this supplement during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding.
